Superheroes and super heroines are imaginary characters of science fiction who possess uncommonly superior physical abilities, exceptional mental powers and they also have highly advanced and futuristic weapons and devices at their disposal. The following are some of the characteristics found in most superheroes and super heroines:
1. Superheroes or super heroines perform acts of bravery and daring to save, secure and help any individual or a group of individuals who might be in danger or distress.
2. Because of their strong moral code of ethics, superheroes and super heroines fight off evil wherever and whenever they encounter it even at the expense of their own safety.
3. Superheroes or super heroines are highly motivated to fight for the right cause due to a strong sense of responsibility to do so.
4. Due to a formal calling from a higher power, due to a personal vendetta against criminals and evildoers or due to a deep belief in justice and services for worthy causes, Superheroes and super heroines are always ready and willing to do what it takes.
5. For the protection of their loved ones from enemies and evildoers most superheroes and super heroines live their daily lives under cover of a secret identity.
6. Each superhero or super heroine has a special costume which they always wear when performing their heroic feats. These costumes protect their daily personas which in turn protect their identities as the superheroes or super heroines.
Although there have been other superheroes and super heroines throughout history and in legends of various cultures, Superman was the first superhero of modern times who fits all the characteristics that I have described above. Superman first appeared in films in 1938 and was the first prototypical superhero of modern times who paved the way for many other superheroes and super heroines who also appeared in many films and in countless comic strips.
Superheroes or super heroines have always had a huge following of fans among the young and the old as well as among males and female because everyone needs a hero to idealize, a hero to look up to, a hero to daydream about and a hero to live vicariously through. After all, we all wish we had some super powers that will turn us into heroes, don’t we? Don’t you? I know that I do.
So, why not give Halloween a super heroic theme this year and honor the superhero or super heroine of your choice? Of course, you might decide to honor two or three superheroes or superheroines or maybe you could honor all the superheroes and superheroines en masse.
The following are but a few ideas for a super heroic Halloween:
1. Decorate your home with posters, cutouts, tablecloths, etc. of the superhero or super heroine of your choice or a combination of a few or all of them. You can acquire superheroic paraphernalia at your nearby party supplies store or on the Internet.
2. Get superhero or super heroine costumes for the entire family. If you decided to honor multiple superheroes you could get different superhero or super heroine costumes for each of you.
3. Get a pumpkin for each superhero or super heroine you decided to honor and carve them into the most heroic Jack O’ Lanterns your neighborhood has ever had the pleasure of witnessing. Arts and crafts stores will, most likely, have all the superhero or super heroine pumpkin carving patterns. In addition, the Internet has a myriad of websites that sell superhero or super heroine pumpkin carving patterns and some even allow you to download and print for free.
